Detoxification of the body is carried out by the kidneys and liver

Detoxification of the body is carried out by the kidneys and liver.
The liver produces bile as part of its detoxification function. Bile consists of many components, but the most important are bilirubin and bile acids. Bilirubin is responsible for the green colour of bile and is produced during the breakdown of red blood cells.
The role of bile acids in digestion is indispensable. They break down fat droplets into tiny droplets, emulsifying them and enabling the fat-degrading enzyme lipase to work more efficiently.
The bile secreted by the liver is released into the small intestine, but not all of it and not immediately. The gallbladder, located under the liver, stores a lot of bile, which is emptied after meals, helping to ensure that bile is produced continuously, so that most of it reaches the small intestine when it is needed most.
People who no longer have a gallbladder because it has been surgically removed can no longer rely on this help, so they have a relative bile acid deficiency at mealtimes. What they can do about this is to eat more often and in small portions.
Bilirubin is converted to stercobilin in the gut in several steps and is excreted in the faeces, some of it being reabsorbed. Bile acids, if not used up during digestion, are reabsorbed in the lower small intestine and reabsorbed by the liver (enterohepatic circulation).
