Bile circulation and the role of bile acids

The role of bile acid supplementation in gallstones and after gallbladder surgery

Role of bile acids in gallstones and after gallbladder surgery

Many patients who have had his gall bladder removed complaining of more unpleasant symptoms than before the operation, such as diarrhoea, yellow stools, constant bloating, for which diet and a low-fat diet do not help.
They have developed postcholecystectomy syndrome, i.e. symptoms caused by a biliary condition.

In a healthy state, the production of the hormone cholecystokinin is triggered when food enters the duodenum, which increases bile production and leads to bile secretion in the gallbladder. However, this process does not occur in people who have undergone gall bladder surgery, because the bile that is constantly being produced flows into the duodenum, which can cause gallstones to form in the bile ducts, and when slightly fatty food is eaten, it will decompose, producing a lot of toxic substances in addition to diarrhoea and bloating.

Taking products containing bile acids helps this condition by replacing the missing bile and by enterohepatic circulation is also restored, because the bile acid absorbed in the duodenum after the food is broken down is returned to the liver via the bloodstream and stimulates the gallbladder to produce bile again.
So the concentrated bile acid ingested from outside enters the enterohepatic circulation and the lack of bile alleviates the symptoms listed. It also eliminates any inflammation in the bile ducts, dissolves the small gallstones and bile sands.
