Effect of bile acids on the immune system, endotoxins, toxic substances - Video

Bile acids and immunity

Bile acids break down the lipo-polysaccharide layers of viruses and bacteria, and the fatty component of endotoxins and pathogens that enter the gut through food. This is their antiseptic role.

If we don't want micro-organisms that enter our body to be absorbed in the gut and enter the bloodstream, bile acids are essential. Bile acids disinfect food as described above and thus protect our body from pathogens.

In addition, bile acids also help to detoxify the body, breaking down endotoxins (internal toxins). This also protects the liver, because any pathogens that are absorbed in the intestine are absorbed into the liver and filtered out by the liver. If too many endotoxins and other waste products get into the blood, they overload the liver. So the liver also protects itself, relieves the burden by introducing a substance into the gut via bile - bile acids - which break down various toxic substances before they are absorbed and enter the bloodstream.
