The product is supposed to help with this problem, but the active ingredient in 1 capsule is restricted to people over 12 years of age. The capsule cannot be split because the capsule shell ensures that it does not fall apart in the stomach but in the duodenum. The capsule cannot be crushed because the active ingredient is bitter like bile as it contains bile acid. It may be possible to disintegrate the capsule under relatively sterile conditions, halve or quarter the active ingredient on some clean glass or porcelain surface, and then reseal the capsule by placing it back in the capsule.

However, it is also essential to have the advice of a paediatrician that half, a third or a quarter of the current 100 mg dose can be given to a 3-year-old child.
